In Quebec since 1977, Jean-luc Archenault was born in a Parisian suburb. He studied at the Beaux Arts in the city of Nancy and in special education at the Paul Meignant Institute in the 70s.

His interest for different cultures urged him to travel around Europe and the Middle East, as well as in the United States, Caribbean islands and Latin America.

As an executive working in a CRDI for more than twenty years, he dedicates his remaining time in the visual arts. Fascinated by nature, source of inspiration for his first drawings using lead. He then explores the world of oil painting where he reproduces Georges de La Tour paintings, master of the chiaroscuro and the diffusion of artificial illumination.

He begins to express this technique in a more personal way by reproducing environments, which he finds in certain meditation places. The expression of the visible and the invisible becomes his favorite hobby, using charcoal, lead and pastel. It is his fascination for trees that will invite him to use ink, to reproduce in detail their forms and contrasts.

In the early 80s, Georges Mathieu, creator of the lyric abstract becomes a guide. Here, Jean-luc is painting with spontaneous feelings the right tint of instinct and the movement of the moment. This passage by the body movements which lasted more than ten years, allowed him to take up with the three-dimensional expression by inserting into its paintings, objects of daily life. He entered Pop Art: transforming the object or revealing it under another device. He also continues to paint under a more traditional form landscapes and birds in warm and luxuriant vegetation.
